Kenny Omega Was Surprised To Hear Arena Advertised His Return For 5/1 AEW Dynamite

Kenny Omega is set to return to AEW on the May 1 episode of AEW Dynamite. The former AEW World Champion says he was surprised to hear about the initial advertisement.

During the April 24 episode of AEW Dynamite, AEW confirmed that Kenny Omega would appear on the May 1 episode. This came after the Canada Life Centre advertised Omega for the show.

During a recent stream on his Twitch channel, Kenny Omega discussed being advertised for Wednesday’s episode of AEW Dynamite. Omega noted that he initially wasn’t sure whether he would return, and he was surprised to see the appearance get confirmed.

“Big news, don’t know if you guys heard it. Kind of surprised to hear it,” said Omega. “I remember thinking about maybe, maybe showing up to Winnipeg. It was a maybe. It was really just a maybe. My sister, my parents, my aunt were like, ‘Oh my goodness, we heard the big news.’ ‘What? What big news?’ ‘The arena is advertising your return.’

“I’m like, ‘Come on, man.’ I’m 80% on board. Maybe, I don’t know, man. I thought, ‘Well, they advertised me,’ that 80 (percent) becomes 100 (percent). I called the boss, ‘Hey man, if you want to run a graphic or something, I guess I’ll show up.'” (H/t Jeremy Lambert of Fightful for the transcription)
