'It’s true that he achieved less, but…' Rafael Nadal speaks highly of Andy Murray as he believes he was always on the same level as the Big 3

The tennis world has been dominated by the Big Three,  Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic , and Rafael Nadal . No other player stood a chase to even match up to the level of the Big Three. However, Nadal believes that one person could possibly be spoken along that level of greatness – Sir Andy Murray

In a recent interview via Tennis Majors, the Spaniard revealed that the Brit was the only one who came to the same level as the Big Three. He further said that Murray was the only one with the same winning mentality as them, and even had the victories flowing in like the Big Three.

He was, in my feeling, the one that was at the same level than us, in general terms. In terms of victories, it’s true that he achieved less. In terms of level of tennis, in terms of hold mentally the winning spirit week after week, he was the only one that was very close to be at the same level than us. said Rafael Nadal via Tennis Majors

Nadal and Murray have played each other 24 times, with the Spaniard having won 17 out of those 24. Both the players have currently been fighting against time on their possible last year on tour. Nadal recently returned and is playing in the Italian Open.

Murray, on the other hand, is due to return to tour in Geneva next week. After suffering a couple of ankle injuries, the Brit hopes to play the rest of the year smoothly.

Rafael Nadal gets off to a slow start against Zizou Bergs at the Italian Open

Spanish ace Rafael Nadal managed to pull off a first-round victory against Zizou Bergs at the Italian Open. Despite a first-set loss, the Spaniard came back in great fashion to win the match.

Playing some wonderful shots, the Spaniard was able to make his way back into the match and eventually beat the Belgian 4-6, 6-3, 6-4. He was rather unhappy with the performance and hoped to level up before the next round.

That wasn’t my best match. I was practicing better than how I played today, without a doubt. But I found a way to win. That’s so important at the start of a tournament. My game is more unpredictable than before. said Rafael Nadal during the post-match interview

He now faces the dangerous Hubert Hurkacz in the next round. Nadal, who hasn’t played anyone as fast as the Pole, faces the hard-hitter.
